Hello, My name is Daniel Reed and I am a Software Developer. I am currently attending Ohio University working towards my Bachelors degree in games, special effects, and animation. I currently have lots of experience in web development and application development with Microsoft's .NET Framework. I am always looking for new opportunities and chances to meet new clients. If you've been looking for an outside consultant to help with your next project then I'd be glad to speak to you. If you wish to contact me please use the link above. |
| I have a few mottos and lessons I've learned over the years developing applications for users and administrators alike. I would like to share a few of the concepts I believe are important to consider when developing software. |
Focus on the Customer,
Not the Technology.
This is an important concept becuase many times developers will focus on using the latest and greatest stuff to get the job done. Unfortunately this doesn't always mean the customer is getting the best product they could be getting for thier money. I try to focus on customer needs and select an approach that will give the customer the greatest benefit. |
K.I.S.S:
Keep
It
Simple
Stupid
This phrase is one of the most important aspects to keep in mind when developing software. User's will be distrusting of change but the simpler the new system is to use the better time the users will have adjusting to it and the happy they will be to use it. |
Document and Comment!
When viewing code today many programmers are leaving out comments and not documenting what does what or how a particular piece of software operates. This might work for the short term, but when that software needs updated a year or more later it cuases problems and could lead to additional costs of development. I try to comment and document the software I create to give my clients and their customers the support they deserve. |
